CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

KARA BRODY

Come as you are, and move as you need. This low-stakes gathering offers a high-play environment pulling from post-modern, somatic, and release based forms. We will activate the space through a series of short sequences that progress from the floor to standing. With an emphasis on finding efficient ways of moving, this class cycles through momentum driven physicality that is often off-centered, in spiral, and grounded.

MEGHANN WILKINSON

Meghann’s teaching style is focused on finding efficiency and reinforcing healthy patterns in the body while fostering a space of co-creation and safe exploration.  Drawing from codified modern dance techniques such as Cunningham, Limon, and Release technique, as well as ballet, jazz, and rhythmic forms, Meghann’s class includes follow-along and improvisational prompts to guide warming up and dropping in, structured work for strength-building and alignment awareness, and built and developed phrase material for big locomotion, shared musicality, and joy.  Meghann brings her 20 years of experience teaching in Chicago and working with Lucky Plush Productions to create a dance class rooted in self-expression, play, and curiosity.

MARC MACARANAS

In this release-oriented class, dancers will explore ease, fluidity, and efficiency in energetic pathways into and out of the floor. Dancers can expect to move thickly and quickly, engage in phrasework that is shapely and shapeless, and challenge their relationship to space, momentum and velocity.
